How do I know if I even need life insurance?

  • Do you have a mortgage, student loan debt, or a business loan?

  • Did you recently get married or have a child?

  • Do you want to fund a child's future education expenses or a partners retirement, or leave a legacy to a high-impact nonprofit?

These are common life events that trigger the need for life insurance.  Another important consideration is that as you age if your health changes, it may be difficult to get life insurance in the future.

Don't I have some sort of coverage at work?

Some companies and organizations offer group life insurance that ranges from $50,000 to 2 times your income.  This generally isn't portable to your next opportunity.  It's only active when you work at that organization.

Most people with dependents or a mortgage need 10-15 times their income which creates a gap between what you have and what you need.
